The Capacity Manager should ensure that the technology capacity is cost-effective and adequate to meet the agreed
availability levels. During monitoring and analyzing capacity data, if variances against baselines or target breaches are
realized, corrective actions for same must be identified. The Capacity Manager must identify appropriate measures to tune
and optimize capacity by balancing services, balancing workloads and traffic, adding or removing infrastructure components
and resources etc. There may be changes identified by Capacity Manager based on monitoring, analysis and tuning activities.
The implementation of any changes arising from these activities must be undertaken through a strict, formal Change
Management process. The impact of system tuning changes can have major implications. Therefore, the impact and risk
associated with these types of changes should be carefully assessed.
The Capacity Manager must work along with the Engagement Manager on the improvement suggestions, track them to closure and
evaluate the effectiveness of the same.
